The first few years (from conception) are so important in a young horse’s life. Correct feeding and nutrition, along with adequate exercise, a herd environment and human interaction, are imperative in raising a sound and healthy horse. Any shortcuts or missing elements greatly compromises a long and happy future, and should be considered when purchasing your next horse.

Bloomfield Vain Lady is a very impressive horse, standing tall, black and elegant, with a character that is always trying hard to please. She is a very willing horse with a great work ethic. She has just returned to work mid February, so at the time of writing has had approximately 5 weeks work with our resident trainer, Chris Wilkinson. Prior to this Vain Lady was broken in as a 4 year old and then continued training for approximately 6 months with Janet Seccull before returning home to us for a break. Vain Lady is by the Oldenburger Reserve Licensing Champion, Versace, who is recognised for producing high quality progeny with exceptional trainability traits.  He is internationally recognised as one of the best Vivaldi sons, with the likes of the highly respected late Georg Sieverding stating he was the best Vivaldi son, in his opinion, and who had desperately tried to have frozen semen sent back to Germany for his mares. Dr Ulf Müller has also recognised the quality of Versace, stating he was one of the best stallions to come to Australia and had a super character that was hard to match. Vain Lady’s dam, Jasmin, is a Jazz daughter who was bred by Fred and Susie Hoevenaars from their imported Voltaire mare. Jasmin has produced top horses for us over the years including Bloomfield Real Hit who was Qld Young Dressage Horse of the Year,  and other quality dressage horses such as Bloomfield First Lady and Bloomfield Fiderstar.Because of Vain Lady’s large stature we have given her the extra time to develop, as is so important with the bigger horses, so light work and time off has been our aim.  She is now physically ready for more and showing that she has plenty of ability and the traits required for a high level dressage career. She would be best suited to a dedicated and competent rider, who is ambitious and able to partner Vain Lady through the levels all the way to FEI dressage.
